Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. Artists such as Tiësto, Ferry Corsten and Lemon8 started their career at Basic Beat. Well known CD-series such as "Forbidden Paradise", "Lost Treasures", "Welcome To Miss Monica's Party", "Now&Wow" and "Nighttown presents.." were released on Basic Beat. Ronald Molendijk left the company in 1999 to concentrate more on his Soulvation project.
In the years to come Ron Hofland ran Basic Beat on his own until the Basic Beat record shop closed it's doors in 2007. Paul Hazendonk who was working for both the Basic Beat record shop and record company was given a more prominent role at the record company until he left to start his own Manual Music company.
Though never officially stopped, nowadays Basic Beat isn't releasing new music anymore.
