In December 2019, DJ ArnouX (Arnoud Aalbersberg, Amsterdam, 1967) launched Random Vinyl, a vibrant, vinyl-only online radio show born from a spontaneous moment. When the station owner asked, “What’s the name of your show?” ArnouX blurted out “Random Vinyl”—a name that perfectly captures the essence of his eclectic, unscripted approach. With no prep, he dives into his massive, recently acquired vinyl collection, pulling out records at random to craft a thrilling, time-traveling dance music journey. Joined by guest DJs who relish the chance to spin vinyl—some for the first time in decades—the show became an instant hit, racking up 33 episodes on AMW (Amsterdam’s Most Wanted) and 100 on DHC (Dutch House Collective).

Now, Random Vinyl has evolved into a full-blown phenomenon, broadcasting solo from a cozy Amsterdam basement. It’s more than a show—it’s a community, a haven where the love for vinyl dance music reigns supreme. The vibe? Pure passion, raw energy, and a celebration of the analog sound that moves us.

In 2020, during the first COVID-stricken Amsterdam Dance Event, Random Vinyl leveled up with an epic idea: a vinyl-only marathon, co-organized with the legendary Killacutz Records, an Amsterdam vinyl mecca. Originally planned as a 24-hour event with 24 DJs, the vision grew when W Hotel offered to host, transforming it into a jaw-dropping 36-hour spectacle featuring 32 DJs. The lineup was a dazzling mix of iconic veterans and fresh talent, all united by their devotion to vinyl dance music. The marathon kept growing: 48 DJs in 48 hours in 2021, and by 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, it hit an electrifying 60 hours with 60 DJs! These international, inclusive, and diverse lineups are a testament to the universal language of music.
